Beneficial Ingredients
Let’s talk about ingredients and how they will benefit you.
Coffee
According to an article written by Healthline, there are at least 13 benefits to drinking coffee. Here are just a few. . .
- helps you feel more energized
- burn fat and improve physical performance
- may also lower your risk of type 2 diabetes, cancer, Alzheimer’s, and Parkinson’s disease.
Coconut Oil
According to an article by coconutoil.com, there are so many health benefits of coconut oil. Here is a short excerpt from the article.
So how are people using coconut oil? What are some of the health benefits of coconut oil being reported? Some of the most recent research has come from people suffering from Alzheimer’s disease, with reports of people improving or even reversing the effects of Alzheimer’s by using coconut oil, as drug trials on Alzheimer’s drugs continue to fail. Alzheimer’s is now seen as a type 3 form of diabetes, and for years we have seen positive results from people with both type 1 and type 2 diabetes in using coconut oil.
We have also seen a lot of reports of coconut oil health benefits from those suffering from hypothyroidism, as coconut oil helps boost metabolism and raise body temperatures to promote thyroid health. Restricting carbohydrates and increasing coconut oil in the diet has also led many to report losing weight with coconut oil. Candida sufferers also report health benefits with coconut oil as research now confirms, and those suffering from various skin diseases are also seeing tremendous health benefits by applying coconut oil directly on the skin.
The benefits of coconut oil for healthy hair are also well known, and other healthy benefits of coconut oil included fighting off bacterial infections and viruses. Coconut oil is also increasingly being seen to benefit athletes and fitness trainers giving them an advantage in sustaining energy levels longer without drugs or stimulants.

Collagen
Collagen Hydrolysate proteins are naturally found in bones, skin, and cartilage. It comes in the form of unflavored protein powder. It dissolves easily in liquid. The health benefits of Collagen include:
- Supports joint health
- Improved digestive health
- healthier, hydrated skin
- fuller hair and stronger nails
- more restful sleep
I recommend Great Lakes Collagen Hydrolysate and the Trim Healthy Mama Integral Collagen. Both of these brands are high-quality Collagen Powders. I have used both and they dissolve easily.
Gelatin
An additional or an alternative to Collagen is Gelatin. It is a less expensive alternative, but there are some things to keep in mind. Gelatin isn’t going to be the nutritional powerhouse that collagen is. However, it does aid in digestive function, supports joint health, and is a high source of protein. It also doesn’t dissolve as nicely as collagen. I use and recommend Trim Healthy Mama Just Gelatin.

Protein Powder
Protein powder will give your Dry Cow Coffee a delightful froth and smoothness. It supports the immune system, boosts your metabolism, and of course, is an excellent source of protein. I prefer Trim Health Mama’s Pristine Whey Protein because it doesn’t have that protein powder taste. It doesn’t have any taste, which is great for this recipe.
Stevia
You can use your sweetener of choice in Dry Cow Coffee. I prefer stevia because it doesn’t spike your blood sugar and it has zero calories.
Optional Add-ins
There are two optional add-ins to Dry Cow Coffee that add extra yumminess. Almond Extract and Cinnamon. Sometimes I add one or both, sometimes I don’t add either. Experiment with what options you enjoy.
If you don’t have all the ingredients on hand, please go ahead and try the recipe with what you have. If you have read any of my other recipes, you know that I am all about substitutions. Because when you live in a rural area, you can’t just run to the store, but you can order online, but that takes time.
Here is a rule of thumb. You need a fat for smoothness and a powder for creaminess.
Fat substitutions – butter or ghee are healthy options. You could also use heavy cream, which is my absolute favorite coffee add in.
Creamy Substitutions – You don’t have to have all three powders. In fact, I would use Collagen or Gelatin, but not both. Protein powder gives this recipe froth, which is always fun.
As far as serving size. For a normal, rational person, this recipe probably serves 4 people. However, if you are a coffee junky like me, let’s just be honest, play it safe, and say one serving.
